Bishop Lavis:- A swift and focused investigation by detectives from the Anti-Gang Unit, has led to the arrest of two suspects.
This following a horrific mass shooting in Bishop Lavis on Friday evening, 11 July 2025.
According to SAPS, two armed men stormed into a home in Reenberg Street at approximately 19:15 and opened fire on the occupants. The brutal attack claimed the lives of four individuals, two men and two women, who were declared dead at the scene by emergency services.
Through sterling tracing operations and dedicated detective work, two 23-year-old suspects were apprehended and detained for murder. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the incident is gang-related, and further investigations are underway.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 15 July 2025.
Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen (Adv) Thembisile Patekile, has praised the efforts of the Anti-Gang Unit, stating that their swift action reflects a strong commitment to restoring safety and justice in communities plagued by gang violence.
“We commend our officers for their professionalism and relentless work in ensuring this breakthrough. We remain resolute in dismantling violent criminal networks,” said Lt Gen Patekile.
