Hijacking Alert in Philippi

By CCN Reporter

VLOTTENBURG:- Swift action by alert community members helped avert a suspected kidnapping attempt in Vlottenburg on Saturday evening.

A suspect has been detained, thanks to the immediate response by residents and the prompt arrival of SAPS and local Law Enforcement officers.

The Stellenbosch Municipality has praised the community for their vigilance and cooperation. “We thank the public for their swift action and urge residents to remain calm while SAPS continues their investigation,” a spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, a warning has been issued following a hijacking and robbery incident in Philippi around 3:00 PM on the same day. According to reports shared on social media, a group of men targeted a company vehicle transporting staff. The suspects robbed the victims of their cellphones. Fortunately, the driver managed to escape before the hijacking was completed.

Community members are urged to remain on high alert, especially in areas such as Philippi Main Road in the direction of Lansdowne Road, and to report any suspicious activity to authorities immediately.

🔹 Stay safe. Stay alert. Your vigilance saves lives.
