Ocean View:- Local police, supported by a multi-disciplinary team, made a ignificant breakthrough in their fight against crime on Wednesday, 13 August 2025.
Acting on intelligence, officers recovered two firearms with ammunition and confiscated a large consignment of alcohol during a targeted operation in Masiphumelele.
The team tactically approached a residence where two males and a female were found. A thorough search led to the discovery of a 9mm pistol, a .38 Special revolver, and ammunition. Two men, aged 27 and 23, were immediately arrested for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
During the operation, the 18-year-old woman on the premises became restless. Police soon uncovered the reason — a stash of liquor hidden inside the property. As she could not produce a valid liquor licence, she was detained for dealing in alcohol without a permit.
The three suspects will appear in the Simonstown Magistrate’s Court once charged.
