Hanover Park:- The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape is taking bold steps to inspire the youth, with a series of Career Exhibitions aimed at empowering learners and broadening their career horizons.
These expos are designed to encourage young people to become the leaders and change-makers their communities need.
Earlier today, Thursday, 14 August 2025, Mountview High School in Hanover Park proudly hosted one of these vibrant career expos, giving learners a rare opportunity to interact directly with specialised SAPS units and various external partners.
Learners explored career opportunities within the Anti-Gang Unit, Mechanical Services, Provincial Communication, Forensic Science Laboratory, FCS Missing Persons, DPCI HAWKS, Forensic Crime Scene Investigation, Mounted Unit, and Radio Technical divisions. External partners such as the Western Cape Government Central Education District, DCAS, National Prosecuting Authority, SANPARKS, Film and Publication Board, Correctional Services, and Western Cape Government Traffic Services also joined in to showcase their fields.
Mountview High School Headmaster Mrs. Abrahams-Meyer praised the initiative, saying:
“I am amazed at all the things you can do in the police services. This is an opportunity for you, so ask questions and explore a future career.”
Colonel Tashwin Paulse, Provincial Victim Empowerment Programme (VEP) Coordinator for the Western Cape, left learners with a powerful message:
“Your education is your superpower. You have the power to break the cycle of violence, poverty, and dependency. Your choices today will shape the world of tomorrow.”
The event was filled with excitement as learners actively engaged, asked questions, and explored a wide range of possible career paths — opening the door to a future filled with opportunity, purpose, and community upliftment.
