VREDENDAL:– The relentless commitment of police to cripple the lucrative drug trade paid off once again when a significant quantity of methamphetamine was seized, and a foreign national taken into custody.
On Tuesday, 12 August 2025, members of the Vredendal Crime Prevention Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Mangaung, Vredendal North. Acting on reliable information, officers entered the premises at around 20:30 and conducted a thorough search.
Their persistence paid off when one vigilant member spotted a suspicious bag hidden behind a fridge. Upon inspection, and in the presence of the homeowner, police discovered methamphetamine valued at nearly R540 000.
A 34-year-old foreign national was arrested on charges of dealing in drugs. Once formally charged, the suspect will appear in the Vredendal Magistrate’s Court.
Police have reaffirmed their stance that drug dealers will face the full might of the law, as operations to rid communities of illegal substances continue.
