Cape Town:- Residents across several areas in the Western Cape are raising.

This alarm after a worrying rise in violent robberies, armed vehicle-related crimes, and car thefts.

Strandfontein (Sloop Street):
A man was robbed and beaten in broad daylight. A taxi driver assisted and took the victim to Strandfontein Police Station. This kind of violence is becoming more frequent.

Az Berman Road, Mitchells Plain (near roadworks and bus stop):
At 5:00–5:10 AM, a young man narrowly escaped being robbed. It’s pitch dark due to non-functioning streetlights, giving thugs the upper hand.
The community thanks the Bambanani safety group previously present at the bus stop, but pleads for immediate SAPS visibility in the area.
“This is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode if we don’t act fast,” one resident shared.

A white Toyota Avanza with armed African males is actively robbing people in the Gugulethu area, last seen in NY108.
The occupants are armed and dangerous.
Please be extra vigilant if you’re in or around this area, especially in the evenings or early mornings.
Report sightings to SAPS immediately.

STOLEN VEHICLE ALERT
A Silver VW Polo (Reg: CF143674) has been reported stolen.
Case Reference: Bellville 328/4/2025
If seen, contact SAPS Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or 062 031 3134 (WC Stolen & Hijacked Vehicles NPC).

Other affected areas include –

Worcester – Stellenbosch – Cape Town Surrounds

The recent spike in vehicle thefts suggests a possible organized syndicate targeting these regions.
