And Calls for Urgent Community Respect and Accountability.

Cape Town:- The Steenberg Community Police Forum (CPF) has strongly condemned the shocking attack on two South African Police Service (SAPS) members in Lavender Hill.
The incidents happening on Tuesday evening, 21 October 2025, which left both officers injured while responding to an incident in the area.
According to the CPF, reports indicate that the officers were pelted with stones by members of the same community they serve and protect, an act the forum has described as “unacceptable and deeply concerning.”
In a statement, the Steenberg CPF said:
“Our thoughts are with the officers involved, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery. What is equally upsetting, are reports that police members came under attack from within the community they serve.
This behaviour must stop…..!”
The CPF urged residents, especially parents, to take responsibility for their children and instil respect for the law and for those who risk their lives daily to maintain safety and order.
“We cannot claim to want safer neighbourhoods, while attacking the very people who respond to our cries for help. If we want peace, we must start by respecting law enforcement,” the statement continued.
The CPF further warned that attacking law enforcement, not only destroys trust, but also weakens the fight against gang violence, crime, and drug abuse. That’s unexeptable, which continue to plague several areas in the Cape Flats.
“Enough is enough. It’s time for all of us to stand together for peace, respect, and accountability,” the CPF concluded.
Residents are urged to cooperate with SAPS and community safety structures to ensure the protection of all law-abiding citizens and to help build safer neighbourhoods for future generations.
