In Philippi, Operation Shanela II members arrested a 23-year-old man during stop-and-search duties after finding 20 sachets of tik (crystal methamphetamine) on him.

Delft police recovered a hijacked red Nissan Magnite in Gushindoda informal settlement, arresting a 33-year-old suspect after the victim reported extortion demands of R5,000 for its return.

In Ravensmead, acting on intelligence, officers arrested a 35-year-old man with 20 tik sachets, seven full mandrax tablets, 28 halves, and 26 quarters.

Elsies River detectives, responding to a shooting report in Leonsdale, apprehended a suspect fleeing the scene. They recovered a 9mm pistol with 13 rounds, reported stolen in 2022 – hidden nearby.

All suspects are due to appear in the Muizenberg, Athlone, Blue Downs, and Goodwood Magistrates’ Courts on charges including illegal firearm and drug possession. The arrests underscore ongoing efforts to remove guns and drugs from streets during the festive period.
