 Safety Alert – Cape Town and Surrounding Areas

Cape Town:- Today, several shooting incidents occurred in different parts of the city:

  • Langa, Joy Crescent – near shacks by the railway line.
  • Fisantekraal, Shiraz Abrahams Street – 1 male wounded and taken to hospital.
  • Cape Town CBD, Adderley & Hout Street – police on scene.
  • Kensington, Bunny Street & 6th Avenue – police investigating an incident.

These incidents show that some areas of the Cape Flats and even the city center can be dangerous. Residents and visitors alike need to stay alert and avoid unnecessary risks.

Practical safety tips:

  1. Be aware of your surroundings, especially in areas with recent incidents.
  2. Share alerts with friends and family without creating panic.
  3. Save emergency numbers on your phone and make it a habit to have them accessible:
    • Police: 10111
    • Ambulance: 10177
    • SAPS Crime Stop: 08600 10111
    • IPID (Independent Police Investigative Directorate): 021 465 6226
  4. Contact the police immediately if you see anything suspicious or are in danger.
  5. Travel with others when possible in high-risk areas.
