Western Cape leads the charge against drugs, while the men and women in blue are ABSOLUTELY DOMINATING the streets nationwide this festive season!
The Western Cape is shining bright in the Safer Festive Season operations: For the week of 15-21 December, the province recorded the highest number of drug-related arrests in the country, nabbing 1,018 suspects for possession and dealing in drugs.
That’s a massive blow to the networks plaguing our communities!
Meanwhile, the Northern Cape wasn’t far behind: In a high-density blitz from 22-28 December (Operation Shanela 2), they arrested 1,416 suspects during patrols, roadblocks, and raids.
Dangerous weapons, illegal liquor, drugs, and cash confiscated – an unstoppable effort to keep our communities safe.
Nationwide, the momentum is unreal:
15-21 December: 20,274 suspects arrested, including thousands for serious crimes like murder, rape, and robbery. Contraband worth R121 million seized, plus over 150 firearms and nearly 50,000 litres of illegal liquor.
Thousands caught for drunk driving, with 2,520 DUI arrests in that same week, a 16% increase in traffic violation arrests compared to last year. The roads are getting stricter, saving lives!
Earlier in December (1-7 December): Another 16,817 suspects locked up.
Operation Shanela 2 and Safer Festive Season ops are in full swing across the country: Firearms, drugs, and illegal liquor being confiscated left and right.
Our police are out there NON-STOP, making sure we celebrate safely!
This is what real action looks like, visibility, intelligence, and sheer determination turning the tide against crime!
