For Big U/19 Rugby & Netball 7’s Tournament
HOPEFIELD:- WC Sports Solutions (WCSS) is gearing up to host a major U/19 Rugby 7’s and Netball Tournament in the West Coast District Municipality .
This event aims to give disadvantaged youth from our rural communities a real platform to shine and compete at a higher level.
Our partnership with the JBC Foundation started in 2023 when their founder, Russel, discovered our rural organization online. That same year, the JBC Foundation generously gave WCSS 60 free tickets to take children from Velddrif, Vredenburg, Hopefield and surrounding areas to the U/20 World Cup rugby matches. For many of these children, it was their first time visiting Danie Craven Stadium and Athlone Stadium.
This friendship was built with one clear purpose: to create real opportunities for less privileged children and young people through sport. Since then, the JBC Foundation has continued to invite WCSS annually to their big tournaments in Cape Town.
Our Vision for 2026
This year, WCSS is planning a strong local tournament featuring both U/19 Rugby 7’s and Netball. We are already in discussions with various rugby clubs, netball teams, organizations and communities across the West Coast District to make this event a success.
The goal is simple but powerful:
The top three teams from our local tournament will earn the opportunity to travel to Cape Town and compete against strong teams from the Cape Peninsula, including Western Province (WP) sides, at the JBC Foundation’s major 7’s tournament from 24 to 26 September 2026 .
This is more than just a tournament – it is a chance for our rural youth (especially 17, 18 and 19-year-olds who left school early) to test themselves against the best, gain exposure, build confidence, and open doors that are normally closed to them.
We Need Your Support
Sport has the proven power to fight gangsterism, drug abuse and social problems by giving young people purpose, discipline and hope. However, without proper support, many talented players remain stuck at home.
We are calling on businesses, sponsors, organizations, rugby clubs, netball clubs and community groups to come on board and help make this vision a reality. Your support can cover sports kits, transport, referee fees, medals and tournament organization.
