Cape Town: – Members of the Public Order Police followed up on information about suspected drug activity at a premises in Buffelshoek Street, Heideveld, this morning, August 31st, 2026.
The officers proceeded to the address and conducted a thorough search of the house. Inside, they discovered an assortment of illegal substances comprising Mandrax tablets, crystal meth (tik), heroin and cocaine.
A 54-year-old woman was arrested on the scene for possession of drugs.
This operation forms part of ongoing efforts by Public Order Police and other specialised units in the Athlone and Heideveld areas to remove narcotics from the streets. Similar recent intelligence-driven actions in the Western Cape have consistently targeted premises linked to the same types of drugs, resulting in arrests of both adult males and females who later appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court.
Once charged, the suspect will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charge.
