Shootings & double Murder Reported in One Night

CCN Reporter – George April

CAPE TOWN:-  A series of shooting incidents across several Cape Flats communities on Monday evening, 26 October 2026, has once again raised concerns about violence and public safety in the area.Community alerts circulated during the evening reported gunfire in Delft, Clarke Estate and Bonteheuwel, a double murder in Mfuleni, and a shooting incident in Philippi in which people were reportedly injured. Information received by Cape Coast News from a reliable police source indicates that no arrests have been made in connection with the reported incidents at the time of writing.

Multiple incidents reported till this morning

  • In Delft, gunshots were reported near Delft Main Road, near the Goal landmark.
  • Further reports referred to multiple gunshots near Nigel and Northdene Court in Clarke Estate.

In Mfuleni, two people were reportedly murdered last night in O Nqubelani Street.  No arrests reported following the killings yet.

  • Gunshots were also reported in Citrus Street, Bonteheuwel, where Law Enforcement reportedly responded.
  • In Philippi, a shooting incident was reported at the corner of Lansdowne and Hammer roads, with injuries mentioned in the community alert.

The full circumstances surrounding the incidents, including the identities of the victims, the number of people injured and whether the cases are connected, have not been independently established by CCN Online.

Communities remain concerned

The reports from different neighborhoods on the same evening highlight the continuing concerns surrounding gun violence and the safety of residents across the Cape Flats.  For communities already affected by crime, repeated reports of gunfire bring renewed anxiety for families, workers and residents travelling through these areas.

While the available information indicates that no arrests have yet been made, investigations and further official confirmation will be needed to establish the full circumstances of each incident.

Residents are urged to avoid active crime scenes and to provide information about criminal activity directly to the police.

CCN Online will continue to follow developments as further verified information becomes available.
