New Song Release to Honours Missing Teen – Joshlin Smith

Executive Mayor Andrè Truter/ Facebook Six-year-old Joslin Smith

Cape Town, South Africa – In honour of Joshlin Smith, who went missing on February 19, 2024, a powerful new song has been released to mark the one-year anniversary of her disappearance.

The track, a heartfelt tribute to hope amidst sadness, features renowned South African talents: Rosey Die Rapper, Brilynn, and MR MP.  It tells a beautiful and emotional story of resilience, love, and the strength to continue despite hardship.

Produced by Brilynn van Rooyen for Young Dynasty NPO, the song’s creation was sparked by a local community member who shared a clip of Rosey’s work. The collaboration highlights Young Dynasty NPO’s ongoing mission to develop young artists and provide them with the tools they need to succeed. This initiative is key to creating a sustainable future for local talent in South Africa and bringing greater attention to the country’s artistic community.

A highlight of the Blue Downs Family Festival, which will take place on March 1, 2025, is a dedicated moment honouring Joshlin Smith. The festival will feature a range of exciting activities, including an open art space where attendees can engage in creative expression or leave a personal mark of support on a community artwork. This art activity, along with other festival offerings, will provide an opportunity for the public to reflect, support, and share in Joshlin’s memory.

The Blue Downs Family Festival aims to shine a spotlight on the most vulnerable members of society, focusing on family values, unity, and the importance of helping one another. It will also serve as a platform for local artists and youth, with Brilynn’s recent success producing a trending track for Lil Avo, who garnered over 5 million TikTok views, as a testament to the power of giving artists a platform to thrive.

Despite facing challenges, including a lack of government support, Young Dynasty NPO remains unwavering in its commitment to providing free assistance to aspiring artists. The festival is a direct result of this dedication, and it will continue to be a significant resource for local youth in 2025 and beyond. The NPO has also invited the Horizon Youth group to attend, offering opportunities for rehabilitation and reintegration through arts programs designed to help these young individuals rebuild their lives.

This festival is the first of its kind, and its impact will reverberate throughout the local community for years to come. Young Dynasty NPO believes in the transformative power of the arts and will continue to pursue this mission with passion and dedication.
