Young man killed, four wounded in Bellville South shooting

Bellville: – A young man has been killed and four others wounded in a drive-by shooting in Bellville South on Saturday night, 21 June.

According to police, the incident occurred around 9.15pm when occupants of a moving vehicle opened fire in the area. Emergency services transported the injured to hospital, but one of the victims succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

Police have opened a murder case and attempted murder dockets. No arrests have been made.

Community leaders have expressed concern over escalating violent crime in Bellville South. The Bellville South Community Policing Forum (CPF) says urgent intervention is needed to address the ongoing violence.

“We are deeply saddened by what happened. It’s clear our community needs support to curb these senseless acts,” a CPF spokesperson said.

The CPF has urged anyone with information that could assist police to come forward.

Police have appealed to the public for assistance. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
