Philippi East – Child Killed in Latest Shooting

Philippi East:- Another family has been torn apart by violence in the community of Better Life, Philippi East.
This after a tragic shooting claimed the life of a six-year-old boy and left two others seriously wounded.
According to police sources, the incident occurred earlier today when gunmen opened fire, injuring a 24-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy. Both were rushed to hospital and are currently receiving treatment. Tragically, the youngest victim, just six years old, died at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest the motive may be linked to a house robbery, but this has not been confirmed.
This tragedy follows closely on the heels of another violent attack in the same area just a month ago, on 15 June 2025. In that incident, three men were gunned down and a fourth was wounded. Police have not ruled out a possible connection between the two shootings and are continuing with their investigations.
The community is reeling, and questions are mounting about ongoing safety concerns in this part of the city. Residents are urged to assist police with any information that might help bring the perpetrators to justice.
