GUGULETHU – Eight passengers were seriously injured when a Golden Arrow bus was petrol bombed in Gugulethu early Monday morning.

The attack occurred near the intersection of Duinefontein and Govan Mbeki Roads. According to initial reports, the suspects allegedly used nearby houses and the darkness of the early morning hours to launch the assault.

Emergency services responded swiftly, extinguishing the blaze and transporting the injured to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Golden Arrow Condemns the Attack
Bronwen Dyke-Beyer, spokesperson for Golden Arrow Bus Services, expressed deep concern and outrage:

“This was a callous and extremely dangerous act that put innocent lives at risk. We call on law enforcement to act swiftly and bring those responsible to justice.”

Investigation Underway
The motive behind the attack remains unclear. Police have launched an investigation, but no arrests have been made at this stage. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.

Community Reaction
Many residents have expressed shock and frustration, as public transport remains one of the only affordable ways to commute.

“We rely on these buses to get to work and school. This kind of violence makes our community feel unsafe,” said one concerned commuter.
