Cape Town:- A suspected gang-related shooting has left two men dead in the Overcome Heights informal settlement on Sunday evening.
According to police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi, Muizenberg SAPS officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 7 p.m. on 7 September. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the bodies of two men lying several metres apart, both having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
“Medical personnel declared both victims deceased on the scene,” said Swartbooi. “The suspects had already fled and are yet to be identified or arrested.”
Muizenberg police have opened two murder dockets, and investigations into the motive and identities of those involved are ongoing. While the exact circumstances remain under investigation, early indications suggest the shooting may be linked to ongoing gang activity in the area.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
