“WE CAN’T LIVE LIKE THIS”

Reporter – George April

Muizenberg:- A wave of fear and frustration has gripped the Overcome Heights community,  following a deadly shooting early on Monday morning, 20 October 2025.

Two men were shot in the head during the incident, leaving one dead and another critically injured.

The shooting took place at approximately 7:00am in Rasta Close, after what residents described as “a weekend filled with continuous gunfire.”

Police confirmed that a 28-year-old man was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to his head. He was declared dead by medical personnel. A second victim, also an adult male, sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said:

“Muizenberg police responded to a complaint of a shooting in Rasta Close, Overcome Heights.  “Upon arrival, officers found a 28-year-old male with a fatal gunshot wound to his head. A second victim was transported to hospital for medical care.  The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made.”

The weekend’s violence has left many residents shaken.  Some community members expressed deep frustration, saying they are tired of living in fear and uncertainty.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or to use the MySAPS app anonymously.

Authorities have also urged residents to remain calm and work together with law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice.
