Chapman’s Peak Fire Update

Issued by Jermaine Carelse, Spokesperson for the City’s Fire & Rescue Service

Cape Town:- Firefighting operations resumed early this morning as two helicopters took to the skies again to continue aerial water-bombing in the affected areas of the South Peninsula.Despite ongoing efforts, the fire remains uncontained, with growing concern as two fire lines steadily creep closer to Chapman’s Peak. Ground crews from the City’s Fire & Rescue Service, Table Mountain National Park (TMNP), NCC Environmental Services, and Volunteer Wildfire Services (VWS) are working tirelessly on the front lines to combat the blaze and monitor for potential flare-ups.

Authorities urge the public to avoid the affected areas, both for personal safety and to allow emergency teams to operate without obstruction.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all individuals, businesses, and organisations who responded so generously with food and drink donations for our frontline heroes. At this stage, donations have been paused, as current supplies are sufficient to sustain the teams on duty.

Stay safe, stay informed, and continue to support from a distance.
