Illegal Firearms and Explosives Seized in West Coast Raids

Vredenburg:-  A coordinated multidisciplinary police operation led by SAPS in Vredenburg on Tuesday, 27 May 2025, has resulted in the arrest of a 69-year-old suspect for the illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.

The suspect was taken into custody, following an intelligence-driven search, with authorities confirming the seizure of multiple illegal weapons and materials.

In a separate incident on the same day, members of Crime Intelligence, Eendekuil SAPS, and Porterville SAPS executed a search warrant at a premises in Eendekuil. During the search, rifles and a significant quantity of ammunition were confiscated.  A 32-year-old man was arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Both suspects appeared in court on Thursday, 29 May 2025,  one at the Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court and the other at the Piketberg Magistrate’s Court.

These successful operations form part of SAPS’ ongoing efforts to rid local communities of illegal weapons and ensure public safety.

Police officials have reiterated their commitment to reducing violent crime and have encouraged community members to report suspicious activity anonymously through Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
