Delft Crime Crackdown Yields Major Drug and Firearm Busts

Western Cape:- The ongoing efforts to clamp down on crime in Delft delivered significant results over the weekend as law enforcement intensified operations in hotspot areas.

On Sunday, 29 June, officers attached to Operation Shanela 2, supported by the Delft Crime Prevention Unit and LEAP members, executed a successful operation in the Leiden area of Delft. During the operation, authorities confiscated 700 mandrax tablets along with a substantial amount of cash suspected to be linked to drug trafficking. A 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is expected to appear in court soon on drug-related charges.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Saturday, 28 June, a 20-year-old male was arrested in Delft after being found in possession of a prohibited firearm. The illegal firearm was seized as evidence, and the suspect remains in police custody.

Police have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a visible presence in the area and urged the public to continue reporting suspicious activities by contacting Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
