Woodstock Police Step Up……!
Reporter – George April
CAPE TOWN: – Woodstock police officers are determined to clamp down on drug distribution and substance abuse that continues to plague vulnerable communities in their precinct.
This past weekend, their efforts led to multiple arrests and a significant seizure of illegal drugs.
On Saturday, 5 July 2025, officers conducted targeted operations in Wright Street, known as a hotspot for drug-related activity. During a search at one of the premises, they arrested a 69-year-old man after discovering 45 units of heroin and mandrax tablets hidden on the property.
Their work didn’t stop there. Just a short distance away in the same street, police raided another house, resulting in the arrest of a 40-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man.
During the search, officers confiscated a substantial quantity of drugs, including:
- 245 sachets of tik (crystal methamphetamine)
- 13 units of unga (heroin mixture)
- Seven and a half mandrax tablets
All three suspects were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court soon on charges related to the possession and possible dealing of illegal substances.
Police have once again urged the community to work with them by reporting suspicious activity, stressing that the fight against drugs requires the support and vigilance of all residents.
“We remain committed to protecting our communities, especially the most vulnerable who suffer due to substance abuse and the criminal networks that profit from it,” a Woodstock police spokesperson said.
CCN will continue to follow this story and provide updates.
