SAPS MEDIA STATEMENT

Pretoria, 7 July 2025

The South African Police Service (SAPS) would like to assure the nation that daily policing operations continue as normal across all provinces.

This follows confirmation from the National Commissioner of SAPS, General Fannie Masemola, that an announcement regarding the appointment of an Acting Divisional Commissioner for Crime Intelligence will be made this week.

General Masemola will also brief the media on ongoing crime prevention and enforcement operations aimed at safeguarding communities and reducing crime levels nationwide.

The SAPS reiterates that its core mandate remains unchanged — to prevent, combat and investigate crime, maintain public order, protect all people and their property, and uphold the rule of law.

“The men and women in blue continue to serve and protect with dedication in every community across South Africa,” General Masemola emphasized.

The SAPS acknowledges other matters currently receiving public attention and confirms these will also be addressed during the upcoming media briefing.

Details regarding the date, time and venue of the briefing will be communicated to all media in due course.
