SAPS Cracks Down on Drug Activity in Steinkopf

Springbok:- The South African Police Service (SAPS) Namakwa District Task Team successfully conducted a search and seizure operation in Steinkopf on Wednesday, 11 September 2025, at approximately 14:45.

During the operation, officers apprehended eight suspects—seven men and one woman—ranging in age from 18 to 47. A comprehensive search of the premises led to the confiscation of illegal substances and cash suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Authorities seized 43.33 “tik” with an estimated street value of R12,709. All eight suspects are facing charges related to drug dealing and are expected to appear in court soon.

This operation is part of the ongoing Operation Shanela II, highlighting the SAPS’s dedication to addressing drug-related crimes and maintaining safety within the Namakwa District.
