Delft:-  A community member has expressed deep disappointment over the police’s delayed response to a death scene in Sandlehout Street, Delft, on Thursday.

According to a message shared on the “Choosen 1S Crime Alert” WhatsApp group, the incident occurred at a residence in 27841 Sandlehout Street, where police were reportedly requested at 15:00 to attend to a deceased person found at the home.

The message, addressed to the Brigadier, Colonel, and Captains of Delft SAPS, stated that no police members arrived at the scene for several hours. It was only around 22:00, approximately seven hours later, that officers reportedly visited the home after a funeral parlour collected a police officer from Delft Police Station to accompany them.

The post concluded with a request for an investigation into the delay, referencing Incident Report number IR769807.

Community members have since raised concerns about response times and the emotional impact such delays can have on grieving families.

At the time of publication, SAPS Delft had not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause of the delay or the outcome of the internal investigation.
