Wesbank shaken by suicide and gunfire incidents

Cape Flats:- An intelligence-driven operation by the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) on Tuesday, led to the arrest of a male suspect and the recovery of a firearm in Azalea Avenue, Uitsig, Ravensmead.
According to police reports, the suspect is affiliated with a local gang grouping and is linked to an attempted murder case in Ravensmead.
He is expected to appear soon in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.
Meanwhile, residents of Wesbank were left alarmed late Tuesday night after multiple gunshots were reported near Silversands Road and Vogelvlei Main Road.
The SAPS was notified, and the incident has been logged under reference number 1002776511 for further investigation.
Later that night, at approximately 11:49 PM, a fatal suicide incident occurred in Happiness Street, Wesbank.
Safety services responded promptly to the scene, and the incident was shared on the Safety First Unit Group network.
These tragic and unsettling incidents have once again highlighted the ongoing challenges of gang violence and trauma affecting local communities.
