MFULENI:- Detectives from the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit have launched an urgent investigation, after the bodies of three men were discovered inside a shack.
They were found in the Covid informal settlement on Friday morning.
The victims, aged 21, 31, and 40, were found with multiple gunshot wounds, sending shockwaves through the already troubled area. According to police reports, officers were called to the scene shortly after 10:00 following reports from concerned residents.
It is believed the fatal shooting occurred during the previous night. Several residents admitted to hearing gunshots but explained that harsh weather conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds, made it difficult to pinpoint the source of the disturbance at the time.
“The scene painted a grim picture, and the motive behind these killings remains unclear at this stage,” a police spokesperson said.
No arrests have been made, and the identities of the suspects are still unknown. Police have urged anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward. Authorities stressed that all information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
The incident adds to growing concerns over violent crime in Mfuleni, a community that has faced a surge in gun-related violence in recent months. Local leaders have once again called for stronger police visibility and better community cooperation to combat the rising crime levels.
