CAPE TOWN:- Communities in Eerste River and Delft are reeling after two shooting incidents rocked the areas earlier today, raising concerns over ongoing violence and public safety.

According to reliable sources, a vehicle came under fire in Eerste River this morning.  The exact location of the shooting remains unclear at this stage, but the victims managed to drive to Kleinvlei Police Station for help. Sadly, one of the occupants succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the station.

Paramedics later transported the second victim to hospital.

Shortly after this incident, residents in Delft reported another shooting at Symphony Village, near the N2 Gateway flats. Gunshots rang out around 10:04 AM at the corners of Aberdare and Bongo Street, sending people running for cover.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and screaming as terrified residents sought shelter.

Calls for police visibility
Concerned community groups, including Chosen 1s Admins, have called for increased police patrols in the affected areas. “We urge residents to be extra cautious when walking or driving through these neighborhoods.  Our thoughts are with the families affected, and we appeal to SAPS to step up visibility and investigate urgently,” the organisation said in a statement.

Police have not yet confirmed whether the two incidents are connected. Investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police anonymously at 08600 10111.
