Three Arrested in Separate Police Operations

CAPE TOWN:- In a strong show of commitment to community safety, police officers from specialised units arrested three suspects in separate operations over the weekend.
Police also recovering multiple illegal firearms and ammunition.
🔹 Bishop Lavis Raid Uncovers Gang Weapons
Following the tragic mass shooting in Bishop Lavis on Friday, 11 July 2025, members of the Anti-Gang Unit wasted no time launching follow-up operations. Acting on intelligence, they raided a suspected storage location in Tafelberg Road on Saturday.
Inside the premises, officers discovered two prohibited firearms with ammunition. A 20-year-old male suspect was immediately arrested on charges of possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition.
🔹 Suspicious Vehicle Stop Leads to Gun Bust in Kuilsriver
On Sunday, 13 July 2025, members of a multi-disciplinary police team patrolling in the Bellville area spotted a suspicious Toyota Corolla heading towards Kuilsriver. Officers pulled the vehicle over and conducted a search.
They recovered a 9mm pistol with ammunition and arrested two suspects, aged 40 and 57, for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
All three suspects will appear in the Bishop Lavis and Blue Downs Magistrates’ Courts respectively in the coming days.
“Our teams remain dedicated to removing illegal firearms from our streets and disrupting the networks that threaten the safety of our communities,” said a police spokesperson.
