Public Advised Not to Be Alarmed

Reporter – George April

Glencairn:-  The NCC Environmental Services, in collaboration with the Cape Peninsula Fire Protection Association (CPFPA), will be conducting a controlled burn of brush piles on Erf 1, Glencairn this week.

The burn, which has been officially permitted by the City of Cape Town, is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, 6 August to Thursday, 7 August, with the possibility of continuing into Friday, 8 August, if necessary.

According to officials, all safety protocols have been strictly implemented, and trained firefighters will remain on-site throughout the operation to manage and monitor the process.

Residents are advised that smoke may be visible during the burn, but there is no cause for alarm. The public is kindly requested not to contact the City’s Fire and Rescue Service unless there is a confirmed emergency unrelated to the burn.

Additionally, the area under burn is unsafe for visitors, and approaching the site is strongly discouraged due to hazardous ground conditions.

For further information, the public may contact 082 614 1596.
