SALDANHA BAY: Young people in the Saldanha Bay area with a passion for beauty and entrepreneurship are being offered an opportunity to gain formal, accredited skills in the beauty industry – at no cost to successful applicants.
The South African Wine Industry Trust (SAWIT), in partnership with the Vineyard Academy, is facilitating a 90-day Beauty Technology Skills Programme in Saldanha Bay as part of its skills development initiatives.
The programme is funded through the National Skills Fund (NSF) and the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), to create pathways towards further education, employment and sustainable careers.
An opportunity for aspiring beauty entrepreneurs
The programme is particularly relevant to young people who have already developed beauty skills informally or who dream of establishing their own beauty businesses. Whether you are a self-taught beauty practitioner, already operating an informal beauty business, or simply passionate about entering the industry but unable to afford formal training, this programme could provide an important stepping stone.
The 90-day programme carries 45 credits and covers various aspects of the beauty industry, including:
- Developing a business plan for a new venture
- Health and safety measures
- Relaxation back and neck massage
- Facial and back cleansing
- Temporary hair removal
- Other beauty technology skills
According to SAWIT, the organisation oversees the training and acts as the employer for beneficiaries participating in the programme.

For young people in Saldanha Bay who have been learning beauty skills on their own, operating from home or dreaming about becoming beauty entrepreneurs, the programme could offer more than just training.
It could provide an opportunity to turn existing talent and passion into recognised skills, and potentially into a sustainable livelihood.
CCN Online encourages eligible young people in Saldanha Bay and surrounding communities to take advantage of this opportunity before the 16 September deadline.
