Cape Flats Overnight

Cape Flats, Cape Town:  A surge of gun violence rocked several areas of the Cape Flats overnight, with multiple reports of shootings in Eerste River, Manenberg, and Heideveld.

Concerned community groups and residents are calling for increased police presence as the violence continues to escalate.

The first incident was reported at 20:04 in Mediterranean Avenue, Condor Park, Eerste River, where emergency services were alerted to a shooting. The severity of the incident remains unclear, but community members urged others to make way for first responders.

Less than an hour later, at 20:51 in Manenberg, a gunshot was heard in Sonderend Road, prompting calls for SAPS visibility. Uncertainty remains over whether anyone was injured, but the community fears rising tensions in the area.

In the early hours of the morning, reports surfaced of shots fired in Susan Court, Heideveld, at 00:50. The Safety First Unit Group, a local community safety initiative, flagged the incident, emphasizing the ongoing threat to residents.

By 03:30, another gunshot was heard in Gamka Street, Manenberg, adding to the growing list of violent episodes that have left residents on edge.

Community safety organizations are urging law enforcement to increase patrols and take immediate action to curb the violence. Many fear that without stronger intervention, these incidents will continue to spiral out of control.

As investigations unfold, residents are reminded to stay vigilant, report suspicious activity, and support efforts to restore peace in their neighborhoods.
