Cape Town:- The Western Cape police’s commitment to fighting crime and protecting communities was once again demonstrated this week, with the arrest of four suspects linked to a series of armed robberies.
On Thursday, 24 April 2025, members of the Maitland Flying Squad, while conducting crime prevention patrols, received information about a white Hyundai connected to an earlier armed robbery in Goodwood. Acting swiftly, officers spotted the vehicle traveling along Jakes Gerwel Drive. Upon noticing the police, the vehicle sped off, prompting a high-speed chase.
The pursuit ended in Station Road, Maitland, where two suspects abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Officers quickly apprehended both individuals. A search of the vehicle uncovered false registration number plates, believed to have been used in criminal activities, as well as a stolen purse containing bank cards and identification documents.
Further investigations linked the suspects to seven armed robbery cases across Woodstock, Elsies River, Goodwood, and Parow. The two arrested suspects, aged 30 and 37, are currently being detained at Goodwood SAPS.
The Western Cape police reaffirm their dedication to making communities safer and urge the public to continue working with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities.
