As Residents Protest Over Lack of Jobs in Construction Project
Reporting – CCNews
Philippi:- Residents of KwaWadi 80 in Philippi have taken to the streets in protest, voicing their deep frustration over what they describe as being continuously ignored in their pleas for job opportunities in a local construction project.
The community says they have made several attempts to engage with relevant authorities, but their calls have fallen on deaf ears. Now, residents are threatening to escalate the matter, even considering the use of forensic investigations to uncover why they are being excluded from employment in the development taking place in their own area.
A spokesperson for the group stated, “We are tired of empty promises. We’ve tried the peaceful route, but no one is listening. If we don’t act now, we’ll always be left out while outsiders benefit from projects meant to uplift our own community.”
The atmosphere in the area is tense, with residents making it clear that they are no longer willing to be bystanders. Their message is firm: they demand transparency, accountability, and most importantly, fair employment opportunities.
Community leaders are calling on government departments and the companies involved in the project to step in and address the residents’ concerns before the situation escalates further.
