For Belhar – Repairs Scheduled for Thursday.
Reporter – George April
Belhar:- The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate has announced an emergency shutdown of the water supply to Belhar, due to a burst main pipeline located at the Bellville Landfill site.
Repairs are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday, 24 July 2025, and will continue until completed. The affected pipeline is the main water supply to the Belhar community. The repair process requires the area to be safely drained and prepared for access before work can commence.
The entire Belhar area will be without water during this time. Residents are urged to take the following precautions:
Store enough clean water in sealed containers for domestic use before the scheduled shutdown. Keep all taps closed to avoid water loss or potential damage once supply is restored.
Water tankers will be made available and coordinated by local ward councillors. The City has apologised for any inconvenience caused and assured the public that repair teams will work diligently to restore services as quickly as possible.
