Bail Abandoned

CCN Reporting

ATLANTIS:- The five accused in the murder of Durban father Malcolm Pather will remain in custody after abandoning their bail applications in the Atlantis Magistrates’ Court.

In a dramatic appearance on Thursday,  the first time media were allowed to photograph them. –  the accused showed no sign of remorse.  Two shared a kiss in the dock, while others whispered to each other.

They face Schedule 6 charges including murder, kidnapping, and defeating the ends of justice. Pather was allegedly lured to a meeting, killed, and his body burned in a stolen bakkie found in Melkbosstrand on 14 July.

Arrests followed within days, and the State says more suspects and charges could follow. The case resumes on 29 September.

Pather, a widower, is survived by his young child.
