Cape Town:-Commuters travelling on the Wellington line are advised to expect significant service disruptions this Saturday, 29 November 2025, as Transnet Freight Rail conducts planned maintenance work between Paarl and Kraaifontein.
The maintenance operation will run from 06:00 until 23:00, during which the entire Wellington train service will be suspended.
Metrorail confirmed the temporary closure in a statement, urging passengers to plan ahead and make alternative travel arrangements for the day. The operator said the work is essential to ensure the continued safety and reliability of the network.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate the understanding and patience of all commuters during this period,” the statement read.
Regular services are expected to resume once the maintenance window is completed.
