CAPE TOWN:- Anti-Gang Unit detectives have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with a double murder that occurred in Cafda, Retreat, last week.
Following a fatal shooting on Friday, 9 October 2026, at about 09:15 at premises in Enzo Street, Cafda, Steenberg police responded to a complaint of a shooting. On arrival, they found a 30-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Both victims were declared deceased at the scene by medical personnel. Steenberg police registered two counts of murder for investigation.
The case docket was transferred to Anti-Gang Unit detectives, who worked vigorously to identify and arrest those responsible. Investigations indicate that the deceased were at their premises when unidentified males chasing a rival gang member opened fire after the man ran onto the property. The gunmen missed their intended target and fatally shot the two victims.
Detectives followed up information, visited the address of one of the suspects and arrested the 32-year-old man on Wednesday, 14 October 2026. He was detained at Steenberg SAPS and is expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 16 October 2026, on two charges of murder. Bail will be opposed. Investigations continue.
Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi applauded the members for their commitment, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
