Cape Flats: –  At least one person has been killed and several others wounded in a wave of shootings across Cape Town over the past two days.In a suspected gang-related mass shooting in Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain, a 24-year-old man was gunned down in Netball Street on Sunday afternoon. According to police spokesperson Wesley Twigg, a gold Toyota Corolla drove up to a group of people standing in front of a residence and opened fire.

At least five others, aged between 14 and 32, were wounded during the attack. Police have opened cases of murder and attempted murder, but no arrests have yet been made.

Meanwhile, in Eerste River, gunfire rang out again.  A woman was shot near the soccer field in Noord Street, Stratford Green, just before 7am this Monday morning.  She was struck in the leg, and one of her fingers was shot off in the attack.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the victim was taken to hospital. The motive for the shooting remains unclear at this stage. Police have urged the community to remain vigilant, as investigations into both incidents continue.
