Seven Arrested in Klapmuts for Illegal Alcohol Manufacturing

Reporter – George April

MAITLAND:-  On Monday, 8 September 2025, the Maitland Flying Squad in the Western Cape acted on a tip-off about a suspected illegal alcohol operation. Officers raided a facility along the R44 in Klapmuts and discovered equipment used for producing alcohol.

Seven suspects were arrested at the scene: five men aged between 25 and 43, and two women, both 20. Authorities confiscated several containers of ethanol, ten large 1000-litre white containers, empty bottles, and alcohol-producing machinery.

The suspects face charges under the Liquor Act and are due to appear in the Paarl Magistrate’s Court.

Police urge the public to report any suspicious activity to help #StopIllicitTrade.
