SAPD Launches Murder Probe

WORCESTER:- South African Police Service (SAPD) has launched a full murder investigation following the violent death of a 35-year-old man from the Scherpenheuwel area in the early hours of Sunday, 22 February 2026.
Stephen Benito Sarita from Alfalfa Farm pronounced dead at Worcester Hospital, early on 22 February 2026 after arriving in private vehicle with stab wound.
According to police spokesperson details, Mr Stephen Benito Sarita of Alfalfa Farm was declared dead at Worcester Hospital shortly after arrival. He was transported to the facility in a private vehicle and showed no signs of life upon reaching the emergency department.
A preliminary medical examination revealed that the deceased had sustained a single stab wound to the left side of his back. Visible blood was noted on his face and body, indicating a traumatic incident. He was officially pronounced dead at approximately 03:32.
The exact circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain unclear at this stage, and the precise cause of death awaits formal confirmation from a post-mortem examination.
No arrests have been made as yet, and the investigation is actively ongoing. Authorities have urged anyone with information – no matter how small – to come forward immediately to assist detectives.
