Timeline from the 2024 Killings to May 13 2026

CCN Reporter – George C April

Atlantis:– The double murder and robbery of Charles “Charlie” Pelis and Gavin Petersen remains unresolved, as the case continues its slow journey through the Atlantis Regional Court. The Incident (21 August 2024)

Charlie Pelis had recently returned from working overseas in Brazil.  He and his friend Gavin Petersen were celebrating that Tuesday night when they were attacked.  Both men were killed and robbed. Charlie was reportedly relieved of his licensed firearm, cellphones, and wallet.
The brutal nature of the crime deeply affected the Atlantis community.

The Accused

Adrian “Apah” Davids and Breyton “Brights” Bowers
The two men were arrested and have been in custody since shortly after the murders.  They face two counts of murder and aggravated robbery.  Police have stated they built a strong prima facie case.

Court Proceedings So Far

The case has had multiple postponements in the Atlantis Regional Court.  During the appearance on 30 March 2026, Adrian “Apah” Davids indicated he wished to represent himself and speak without a lawyer.  The judge strongly advised against this and ordered him to accept Legal Aid representation.  The matter was postponed to 13 May 2026.

Latest Appearance (13 May 2026)

The two accused appeared in court yesterday as scheduled.  According to community members who attended, there were no major developments or outcomes.  One of the accused has previously appeared distressed and expressed interest in speaking about the case, but no confession or plea was formally recorded yesterday.
The judge’s earlier warnings about the importance of legal representation remain in place.  The families of Charlie and Gavin continue to attend court in search of answers and closure regarding the events of that night.
Both suspects remain in custody. The case was postponed for further proceedings (new date not yet widely circulated in community updates).

The Atlantis community continues to follow the matter closely and has been encouraged to support the victims’ families at future court dates.
