WESTERN CAPE:- The Western Cape policing community has been rocked by reports that more than 20 South African Police Service (SAPS) members are facing investigations over alleged links to the taxi industry. 
According to reports, the officers include members stationed at various police stations and specialised units across the province. Several officers have reportedly been suspended, while others have resigned as investigations continue.
The matter has attracted national attention due to SAPS regulations that prohibit police members from owning or operating taxi businesses without proper authorization. The restriction exists to prevent conflicts of interest, as police officers are often required to investigate crimes, disputes, violence and other matters involving the taxi industry.
Western Cape Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile has confirmed that investigations are underway.
Reports indicate that more than 20 officers are facing criminal and internal disciplinary processes.
