MANENBERG:- A tragic discovery was made on Thursday, March 6, 2025, when the body of a young woman was found in a canal along Duinefontein Road, Eljieskraal, Manenberg.

According to Captain Ian Bennett, spokesperson for the Manenberg SAPS, the body was found at approximately 07:40 inside a wheelie bin that had been pushed into the canal.

A pathologist at the scene identified strangulation marks around the victim’s neck, along with an open wound on her chin. Authorities believe she was murdered at least eight hours before being discovered and that the crime occurred elsewhere before her body was dumped.

Manenberg SAPS has opened a murder case, but no arrests have been made yet.

The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation. Those with relevant details can contact Manenberg SAPS at 021 699 9400 or reach out to Crime Stop.
