Khayamandi,:-  Three 17-year-old teenagers were arrested this Friday morning, 11 July, in connection with the brutal killing of two brothers in Makupula Street, Khayamandi.

According to Stellenbosch police spokesperson Captain Nathalie Martin, the deadly shooting occurred on Thursday evening, 10 July. Police were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire near Aphiwe Barbershop.

Upon arrival, officers discovered one of the brothers lying dead on the pavement opposite the barbershop. A second victim, also believed to be his brother, was rushed to Stellenbosch Hospital by private transport but was declared dead on arrival.

“It is believed that both victims were inside the barbershop, which one of them owned, when two suspects entered the premises,” said Captain Martin. “One of the suspects pulled out a firearm and opened fire before fleeing.”

The barbershop is located just opposite Makupula Secondary School.

A swift investigation led to the arrest of three teenage suspects, all aged 17, who were taken into custody early Friday morning. They are expected to appear in court soon on charges related to the double murder.

Police are urging anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact the Stellenbosch SAPS at 021 809 5012 or 021 809 5015.
