Cape Town:- Law enforcement continues to clamp down hard on crime, with two major operations on Thursday, July 10 2025.
The operations resulting in the seizure of drugs worth nearly half a million rand and multiple illegal firearms.
In Kirstenhof, members of the local Crime Prevention Unit (CPU), acting on a tip-off, intercepted a major drug consignment allegedly transported via the Ou-Kaapse Weg. The operation led officers to a residence in Norfolk Park, where a joint effort with a private security company uncovered a staggering 1,730 ecstasy tablets hidden in a bag behind a bed.
The drugs have an estimated street value of R500,000. A 27-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and is set to appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 11 July 2025, facing charges of drug possession and possession of counterfeit money.
Meanwhile, in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain, the Anti-Gang Unit made significant progress in their efforts to curb gang-related violence. During a targeted operation, officers seized two unlicensed firearms with accompanying ammunition. A 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
These decisive operations form part of SAPS’s ongoing commitment to take drugs and illegal weapons off the streets, making communities safer for all.
