Metro Police Strike Swiftly on Voortrekker Road
CCN Reporting
Cape Town:- The Metro’s Law Enforcement officers continue to prove that their presence on the streets is more than just for show,it’s about results.
On Wednesday evening, during routine patrols along Voortrekker Road, alert officers spotted a suspect behaving suspiciously and attempting to flee upon noticing the patrol vehicle. The officers acted immediately, stopping the vehicle and requesting permission to conduct a search. What they found concealed inside the car was shocking:
- 27 cell phones, each carefully wrapped in tinfoil, and a tactic used to block GPS tracking signals
- R9,300 in cash, believed to be linked to stolen property activity
The suspect was arrested on the spot for possession of suspected stolen goods and handed over to Maitland SAPS for further investigation and prosecution.
This outstanding work reflects the core principles of good policing: visibility, vigilance, and swift response. It’s a reminder that effective policing isn’t just about being seen — it’s about staying alert, acting decisively, and protecting our communities.
As the city welcomes a new generation of Metro Police officers to the force, this incident sets a high standard. A message from leadership to the fresh recruits: “Build on the legacy of those who came before you and set the path for those who will follow.”
Together, we can continue to ensure safer communities for all.
