Police Appeal for Public’s Help

Reporter – George April

Kraaifontein:– A community is reeling in shock, after the body of a baby was discovered in a rubbish bin in Zonostraat, Bloekombos, on Wednesday morning around 08:30.

Police have confirmed that a case of concealment of birth has been opened. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Sergeant Wesley Twigg, SAPS spokesperson, urged the public to assist detectives.

“We are appealing to anyone with information to please come forward. Your tip could help us bring closure to this tragic case,” Twigg said.

Information can be reported anonymously via the Stop Crime number 08600 10111 or the MySAPS mobile app.

This incident follows a similar case on 1 July in Kalkfontein, Kuils River, where the decomposed body of a newborn was found wrapped in plastic bags and abandoned near a canal. Police are also investigating that matter as concealment of birth.

The tragedy has left many in the community saddened and concerned. Residents are calling for greater awareness, compassion, and support for vulnerable mothers, emphasizing that every life is precious and that help is available for those in crisis.
