Hopefield:- The West Coast community is beaming with pride, as local netball sensation Beulen Lazarus prepares to light up the second Power Week of the 2026 Telkom Netball League (TNL) with the Tshukudu Tornados.
Lazarus, a dynamic Wing Attack and Centre from Hopefield, has been a standout performer for the Tornados in the national competition. Known for her relentless drive, creativity, and clinical finishing in the attacking circle, she has already earned multiple Player of the Match honours this season. That including standout displays in the Division 2 semi-finals.
A former learner at Hopefield Secondary School (HSH), where she now teaches Grade 7 – 10 Life Orientation, while studying towards her B.Ed and Business Management qualifications, Lazarus continues to balance her passion for the sport with her commitment to education and community development.
Weskus Netball Federation and the broader West Coast community have rallied behind their homegrown hero. “Weskus is incredibly proud of you,” reads the heartfelt message accompanying her latest feature. “You inspire us all to be better!”
With Power Week 2 to take already place at the Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg from 22 – 31 May 2026. The Tornados – three-time finalists and consistent top-three contenders, will be looking to Lazarus’s leadership and skill on court to push for silverware.
Her journey from the dusty courts of the West Coast to the national stage serves as powerful motivation for young athletes across the region.
Whether she’s wearing the captain’s “C” for her club or driving the attack for the Tornados, Beulen Lazarus embodies resilience, talent, and community pride.
Good luck, Beulen!
The entire Weskus will be cheering her on as she continue to chase glory in the Telkom Netball League.
